Save Instagram stories before they're gone
Stories vanish after a day, which is exactly why people want to keep them — a friend's announcement, a recipe someone shared, your own story you forgot to save. hhhins lets you keep a public story or highlight as a clean file, photo or video, from its link.
There's no app to install and no login. Because hhhins works from a link rather than from inside your account, saving a story doesn't put you on anyone's viewer list.
Stories vs highlights
A story is live for 24 hours and then disappears for good — you can only save it while it's up. A highlight is a story the creator chose to keep on their profile permanently, grouped under a little circle. Highlights never expire, so you can come back and save them any time.
For both, the step is the same: open it, tap ••• → Copy Link, and paste it here. If the ••• menu has no Copy Link option, the account is private and the story can't be downloaded.
How to download a story or highlight
Works the same on phone and computer:
- Open the story or highlight in Instagram and tap ••• → Copy Link.
- Paste the link into the box above and tap Download.
- Each photo or video appears with its own button — save the ones you want.
A note on respecting people
Stories are often more personal than feed posts. Saving one for yourself is one thing; re-sharing someone's story, especially a private moment, is another. Keep downloads for personal use and get permission before you repost. hhhins only ever touches public content, and never stores what you save.
If you want to browse a public account's current stories rather than save one, the story viewer page explains how that works.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get the link to a story?
Open the story, tap the ••• menu in the corner, and choose Copy Link (available for public accounts). Paste that link above. For a highlight, open it, tap ••• and Copy Link the same way.
Can I download a story without the person knowing?
hhhins works from a link you paste, so it doesn't view the story inside your account and doesn't add you to the viewers list. You do need the story's link, which is available for public accounts.
Stories disappear after 24 hours — can I still save one?
Only while it's live. Once a story expires it's gone from Instagram and no tool can retrieve it. Highlights, though, stay on the profile indefinitely and can be saved any time.
Can I save stories from private accounts?
No. Only stories and highlights from public accounts have a shareable link a downloader can use. Private content isn't accessible.
Is the story saved as a photo or a video?
Whatever it is — a photo story downloads as a JPG, a video story as an MP4. Carousels and multi-part highlights show each item with its own download button.
Why does my story link say it failed?
The story may have already expired, the account may be private, or the link wasn't copied fully. Public, still-live stories download fine.
Does it cost anything?
No. Saving stories and highlights is free, with no limit and no signup.
Can I save just one photo from a highlight?
Yes. Paste the highlight link and each item appears separately, so you can download only the one you want.
